Iqbal Singh Chahal, the Municipal Commissioner, promised the Bombay High Court on Friday that all city roads would be concreted over the next three years in a thorough PowerPoint presentation. 990 km of the 2050 km overall length of the road network have already been concreted. While work to resurface 265 kilometres of roads is underway and contracts have been granted. In contrast, the officer said, 397 km of roads would have construction tenders launched in November.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGMcivic’s ) Road Department repaired 35,794 potholes during the monsoon throughout the course of the previous five months. The BMC attended 400 potholes each day during the monsoon, but there are now just 20 potholes, the civic official from the road department explained in detail. According to the city officials, the civic crew could fix all of the reported potholes during dry spells. To resurface roads in the city and surroundings, the civic authority has recently requested bids totaling Rs. 200 crores.

41% of all reported potholes are located in the western suburbs. The areas with the most reported potholes are K West (2,426), Andheri West (1,989), and P North (1,989). During this time, the BMC has provided 3,318 metric tonnes of cold mix to patch potholes throughout the city's 24 administrative wards.
A (Colaba-594) and R North (Dahisar-382) have reported the fewest potholes, meanwhile.

The city is still attracting potholes due to the infrequent rain. To address this, in the third week of September, the city authorities allocated an additional budget of Rs. 5 lakhs to each ward to purchase cold mix from the open market. The wards use the material to plug craters in their regions. "We were able to fill all the craters thanks to the dry interval between storms and work to resurface the roads will shortly begin. Therefore, there are fewer potholes in the city "the officer added.
