The BMC building in Mumbai turns out its lights for a special hour

While the world observes 'Earth Hours,' the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) building in Mumbai dimmed its lights to mark the occasion. Today, March 26, 2022, between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM, the world will observe Earth Hour by turning off lights in favour of wildlife and the planet.

 

The United Nations announced on social media that "Saturday's Earth Hour is a wonderful reminder that tiny Climate Action measures may make a huge difference." The World Wide Fund for Nature launched the open-source grassroots movement in 2007 to raise awareness about the climate problem.

 

Every year at 8.30 p.m. on the final Saturday in March, millions of people throughout the world demonstrate their support for the cause. Earth Hour is the world's largest environmental grassroots campaign. It aims to bring together millions of people all around the world in a display of support for both people and the environment. The event this year asks individuals from all over the world to come together in a moment of meditation on our relationship with one another and our shared home.

 

Earth Hour, which began as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney in 2007 to raise awareness of climate change, has grown into one of the world's greatest grassroots environmental campaigns. Earth Hour, which takes place every year on the final Saturday in March, brings together supporters from over 190 nations and territories who are all working to secure a better future for people and the earth.

 

Earth Hour has evolved into a catalyst for good environmental effects, driving important legislative reforms by using the power of the people and collective action. Earth Hour is an open-source event, and we encourage anybody to participate and help us expand our purpose and impact.
