With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2022 impending, Uddhav Thackeray's absence on the first day of the Maharashtra assembly session sent eyebrows buzzing about his health. Chandrakant Patil, the state BJP chief, was the most forthright on the subject. "It is improper for the Chief Minister to remain away from legislative processes," Patil had stated earlier in the day, forcing Aaditya Thackeray to intervene.

"The Chief Minister is in good health. I called him and spoke with him. He'll show up anytime he wants, "According to Aaditya, he told reporters. Uddhav Thackeray, 61, had cervical spine surgery lately. Patil, never one to give up easy, took another shot at Uddhav and his supporters, saying: "He has little faith in the Congress and the NCP, believing that once they have the position, they will not relinquish it. In that event, Aaditya Thackeray, his son, could be in command." In retaliation, state Congress president Nana Patole was a little harsh when he suggested that the BJP should also check Prime Minister Modi's attendance in Parliament.

“If the Prime Minister is absent from the House, his responsibilities should be delegated to another ministry "he stated He underlined that the BJP was politicising the subject for no reason. Patole forgot for a moment that PM Modi has far more pressing domestic and foreign commitments than the CM. Last but not least, Maharashtra Minister Jayant Patil issued a statement. "Uddhav Thackeray, the Chief Minister, is in good health and can attend the legislature at any time. There's no need to delegate the responsibility to anyone else.
