As the maximum city, Mumbai noticed heavy rainfall from the past week, on Saturday the city woke up to a sunny morning to some extent with the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Santacruz observatory taping light rainfall at 5.9mm in the last 24 hours.
 
Edging closer to the average seasonal rainfall, which the city of Mumbai recorded 2,026.7mm rain from June 1. The seasonal, that is four months’ average stands at 2,205mm. A couple of clouds in the Raigad and Ratnagiri districts and towards the ghat areas were noticed. In the 24-hour India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) prediction presented on Saturday, 24 July 2021 the weathermen stated that a possibility of moderate rain in the city and suburbs can be seen, along with a few heavy spells at remote places.
 
The ongoing rainfall activity is predicted to lessen up further next week. Ceaseless and heavy rainfall in the state battering Kolhapur and Satara went on till Saturday morning. Both the districts noticed heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8:30 am Saturday. With Kolhapur recording 181mm and Satara recording 172.3mm rain. A red alert was issued by IMD pointing towards tremendously heavy rainfall in Satara especially in the ghat areas and the coastal towns of Ratnagiri for Saturday. The alert was issued before the incident on Friday.
 
In the meantime, the seven lakes supplying drinking water to the city of Mumbai are at 62.79% of the holding capacity. After ceaseless and heavy rainfall since Wednesday, moderate to light rainfall was noticed at the lakes’ catchment areas in the last 24 hours.
