Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena legislator who was caught sans a mask at a ceremony on Thursday, claimed he was following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "example." Some reporters approached the Rajya Sabha member on the sidelines of the event in Nashik, Maharashtra, and inquired why he wasn't wearing a mask, which is essential to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi encourages people to wear masks, yet he does not," Raut remarked. Although Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, wears a mask, Modi is the country's leader. I don't wear a mask because I'm following the Prime Minister, and neither do the people around me." A Shiv Sena official, on the other hand, warned everyone to be cautious when attending public events.

"Prohibition orders are in effect right now, but I wish there were none all day since it would hinder economic progress." Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule, her husband Sadanand Sule, NCP politician Prajakt Tanpure, and Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad have all been found to be corona positive.
