Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022, Shiv Sena corporators will be facing trial in a case after the Magistrate Court in the state of Maharashtra’s Thane summoned them for vandalising a school over the issue of a raise in tuition fee by the school authority in the year 2018. Soon after the incident occurred the school filed a complaint, but in response, nothing was done. In this regards the magistrate court last year received a complaint from the Azad English High School run by a trust named Manas Shikshan Mandal.
Soon after this came into the consideration of the Magistrate Court, the directed Wagle estate Police personnel to probe into the matter and look into the charges levelled of vandalism with a threat against the Shiv Sena corporators. The police probed into this matter and go to know that in February the corporators who were being accused were in the school premises with many other parents, the Shiv Sena corporators then met the school authority to discuss the issue of rising fees due to which parents are facing issues. The four-page report submitted by the police officers after the investigation stated that, “The act that has been done by the accused seems to be for a social cause.”
But in this regard a CCTV footage was presented by advocate Aditya Mishra of the school premises, arguing with the report he stated that the police were not showing the actual picture before the court. “According to the probe that was led out by police officers this was a social cause, how come police issued notice to the corporators under section 149 of the criminal procedure code,” stated Advocate Aditya Mishra. Soon after listening to both sides and going through the CCTV footage, the magistrate court summoned both the Shiv Sena corporators for trial under section 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
