For the comprehensive development of the disabled, Shinde Fadnavis' government in Maharashtra set up a separate Disability Welfare Department. Starting on December 3, the department will be open for business. Speaking more specifically about it, MLA Bacchu Kadu remarked that under this ministry, the disabled will benefit from welfare and development programmes like the Gadgebaba Gharkul Scheme. In addition, efforts will be made to help the deaf and dumb find employment in the private sector.

The state government will set up centres for disabled individuals in each district to promptly give the advantages of government programmes to all the disabled. Before this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had stated that the centre would be funded by the Zilla Parishad, the Municipal government, and the local MLA. The government will use this channel to make sure that state and federal programmes assist disabled people.

In the current budget, the government has allocated Rs. 1130 crores for the care of the disabled. The department has also been urged by the state government to develop a proposal to increase the pension amount and make it comparable to the scholarship for OBC students. The disabled would be surveyed door to door, just like in the Akola and Thane districts. They will gain an advantage if information about the disabled and their eligibility for programmes is gathered.
