With Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections approaching, the State Elections Commission has started prepping up for it. In a recent interaction with the media the State Elections Commissioner (SEC) UPS Madan stated that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections will soon be held by March 2022, and added that it is speculated that the whole process will be completed in time.
Further, adding he stated that there are some problems related to wards in other municipal bodies where single-member wards have been turned member wards as the numbers of the corporators and councillors has also increased, except in the city of Mumbai.
Further, responding to a question which states about the voters promising their votes in return ask their works to be done, if this could be stopped by the State Election Commission (SEC), he stated that our work is for a limited period as when elections are approaching, we are into the frame not before that, not after that. So it would not be easy to keep track of all the activities and it is not only the duty of leaders but also the voters to be sincere to themselves. If they are demanding from candidates to do their personal needs, the candidate will incur loss and multiply that many times.
Responding to the daily attacks, counter-attacks, criticism, war of words and what, not between the political parties in the city of Mumbai ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022, he stated that local body elections are fought more closely than Lok Sabha elections as there are fewer vote margins so the tension increases and it can be seen these days, closer attention needs to be paid on this matter with the administrative keeping a check in the field and with proper police personnel, with this will be able to handle the situation well.
