An Andheri-based activist has alleged, in a PIL filed in the High Court, Bombay, that the BMC and the company that got the tender to fulfil the BMC’s ambitious e-learning initiative, is party to a ‘scam’ by not conforming to the terms of the contract.
The petitioner, Prithviraj Maske, in his 40 page petition has listed several anomalies in the fulfilment of the tender.
Maske, in his PIL, alleged that as per the terms and conditions of the tender dated May 15, 2015, ‘the company/agency/bidder should have experience in implementation of audio/video content as per Maharashtra state syllabus for at least 350 government/semi-government-aided schools which the respondent does not comply with’. Maske said that he had learnt about this through multiple RTI applications.
The PIL also stated that BMC bought 20,700 tablets worth Rs 6,850 each in 2015, even when tablets of the same specifications and quality are available in the market anywhere between Rs 1,600-4,500 each.
Is it really a Scam or does the
BMC have an answer to the above anomalies, we shall find out soon enough
