Mumbai: Remembering the journey of Mayor as strong as her city
Starting her journey from mills then becoming a nurse to achieving great heights she managed to become Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) corporator in the year 2002 with then becoming Mayor, Kishori Pednekar who is considered a woman who with her firm character very well has led out the corporation for two years. She on November 22nd completes her two years as Mayor of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). 
 
Her second year of service, which was a crucial time of her two years as the pandemic had hit the country hard, she managed to not only resolve different issues of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) covering most of the part but also went forward and implemented various covid related schemes. 
 
Being a former nurse, Kishori Pednekar in times of Covid 19 never left visiting hospitals around the city, visiting hotspots to encourage the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) staff to do the work more efficiently. In one of her visits to BYL Nari Hospital and TN Medical College, she went on to wear a nurse uniform where she was seen interacting with nursing students in a way they could help the Covid 19 patients in the city of Mumbai. 
 
As the covid 19 infection-induced lockdown had hit hard the play wrights, Marathi drama, theatre artists who eventually incurred huge losses as there was reduced audience per say completely shut in the initial months. With these underlying problems, Marathi Drama Professional Producers Association held a meeting with Mumbai’s Mayor Kishori Pednekar and urged her to rescue them from this situation of huge losses by reducing the rent of theatres. 
 
Soon after the meeting was held Pednekar, immediately went on to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and asked him to review the situation and soon after the situation was reviewed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) decided to reduce the rent of theatres by a total of 75 percent till March 2021. 
 
She devoted most of her time to the city’s development and considers the work of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) as her top most priority. Her continues effort in the city has led to a decline in Covid 19 cases, with this she next aims to deal with the city’s vaccination monitoring.
