For international passengers coming to Mumbai from dangerous nations, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has implemented a unique and stringent home quarantine monitoring system. Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal stated that it will be effective as an institutional quarantine to prevent the spread of the Omicron Variant.

Passengers from the United Kingdom, Brazil, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Israel, among others, will be subjected to a seven-day strict home quarantine, while those from South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, which are classified as "at high risk" countries by the Maharashtra government, will be subjected to RT-PCR testing on arrival in addition to a seven-day institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent 14 samples of a suspected Omicron variant to be sequenced in Mumbai. Ten of these samples were from overseas passengers, and four were from the passengers' contacts. "Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced a highly unique and severe home quarantine monitoring method for travellers arriving in Mumbai from 'at risk' nations," said municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal on Saturday. It will be just as effective as quarantine in a facility. Our goal is to keep the Omicron variety from spreading further in Mumbai."

The CEO of Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) will submit a list of international passengers arriving in Mumbai in the previous 24 hours from high-risk and at-risk countries, as well as those who have visited these countries in the previous 15 days, to the Disaster Management Cell daily. Every day at 10 A.M, the Disaster Management Cell will divide the passengers' manifest into 24 groups and transmit them to the ward war rooms. Following that, the Health Department will monitor travellers, including tracking, contact tracing, and so on.
