To help the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) run its vaccination drive in the slum pockets the Reliance Foundation has united with the list of companies to provide vaccination for Covid 19 which are Citibank, Jaslok Hospital, and Godrej Group.
Two centres which will be running together by Reliance Foundation and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were inaugurated by the guardian minister Aaditya Thackeray on Monday at Adarsh Nagar near Worli Koliwada and Pratiksha Nagar in Sion.
In 50 locations all over the city the Reliance Foundation, through H N Reliance Hospital, will be administering three lakh Covid-19 vaccination doses to be used. The vaccination drive which will be free of cost will cover the citizens from Dharavi, Worli, Wadala, Colaba, Pratiksha Nagar, Kamathipura, Mankhurd, Chembur, Govandi, and Bhandup over the next three months. The Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray stated that “the private hospitals and institutions should assist in this free vaccination drive so that the number is increased and the vaccinations speed up. Every citizen needs to take the vaccine as unless everyone is vaccinated, no one is safe.”
The drive will be conducted by a mobile vehicle unit with the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and BEST providing infrastructure and logistical support. The private firms which are administering vaccine doses for people include the Jaslok Hospital and Citibank who jointly applied last week. An official from the Jaslok Hospital stated that the entire vaccination stock cannot be ordered by them in one go, so to complete the whole drive will take 2 to 3 months.
Dr. Shreekant Sapatnekar of Godrej Hospital stated that one lakh doses of the Covid 19 vaccination were donated by them to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to assist in coverage of the population in the city who are not able to get the vaccination because they are paid.
