NCP Chief Spokesman and Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister Nawab Malik resumed his onslaught on the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede over its farjiwada on Sunday after a brief hiatus (wrongdoings). Despite unfavourable findings made by the agency's vigilance committee and SIT, he stated that some powerful BJP politicians from the state are aggressively pressing the Union Home Ministry for the extension of Wankhede.

Wankhede's employment at the NCB expired on December 31, according to Malik, but he is circulating rumours in the press and media that he is going on leave for three months and that he does not seek an extension. "Let them do their thing." We will seek information under the RTI after the order is announced and expose the method in which it was done," he added. "Despite a series of exposés by me, Wankhede continued his wrongdoings, and they are still attempting to trap innocent individuals." "I uncovered several wrongdoings of NCB after the October 2 cruise drug bust case, but these scams of NCB are still going on," he alleged.

In a defamation complaint brought by Wankhede's father, Gnyandev Wankhede, Malik stated that the Bombay High Court has not barred him from disclosing NCB's wrongdoings. He released two audiotapes in which an NCB officer allegedly invites witnesses to submit backdated signatures in a case from June 2021 in which the panchanama had already been completed. Despite attempts to intimidate him, Malik demanded a probe by the DG NCB and stated that he will continue to reveal NCB wrongdoings in the future. Malik said that a public relations firm had been hired to carry out a defamation campaign against him. He ordered that the DG NCB share the findings of its vigilance committee and special investigative team's probe into Wankhede's wrongdoings involving extortion, ransom, and false case registration.
