Allowance has been granted to the Ganpati and Navratri idol makers to seek consent offline by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday.  “The permission issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to put up pandals temporarily for the carver who are the makers and sellers of the sculptures during the festival of Ganeshotsav and Navratri. The permission is granted only for the carver who make and sell the sculptors themselves” the BMC said. 
 
“Information which is related to fees for this year and for permission of sculptors to set the pandals or stalls have been made available in all the 24 ward offices, the circular has also been made available in the official website of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation,” said an official. Earlier this week the Maharashtra Government issued many guidelines for the celebration of the festival limiting the height of Ganesh idols and many other firm regulations, for the 11-day festival Ganeshotsav starting from September 10. 
 
Just like the regulations last year, this year too the height of all Ganesh idols all over the state of Maharashtra as directed by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will be limited to four feet due to the current situation of Covid- 19 pandemic. For the Ganesh idols installed at home, the height cannot be more than two feet. The government has asked the citizens to use marble or metal idols during the festival. In the case of Ganesh idols made of clay or other materials, then performing the “Visarjan” ceremonies either at homes or artificial ponds. 
 
The SOP’s also mentioned that the public organizers should make all the prior arrangements whatever possible for Darshan through online mode. Maintain cleanliness, keeping a proper check on sanitization, no crowds at the venues with special attention to the children and senior citizens are among the guidelines by the Government of Maharashtra.
