Pune schools are allowed to reopen for normal hours when Maharashtra schools resume, however, Mumbai schools are not. As a result, parents are perplexed as to why Mumbai schools do not operate on a regular schedule. Because pupils are unable to instil and comprehend their learnings in just a few hours, parents are pressing the government to limit school hours and allow activities. Despite attending physical education programmes, kids are not getting enough exercise.

"Many schools use three to four hours every day as an excuse for not opening on time. Students only need to attend for a few hours once or twice a week. This is only a ruse to make it appear as if schools are open. We require regular hours so that the school cannot use this as an excuse to refuse to open "Anushka Kulkarni, a Mumbai-based parent, agreed.

Parents also believe that schools should not be open for more than a few hours. They are dissatisfied with the schools' ability to operate for only a few hours. Priyal Patil, a mother of two children, stated, "Some schools need students to attend twice or three times a week for a few hours, then return home and log back on. It's a lot worse than not going to school at all. To prevent schools from partaking in this foolishness, normal hours must be enforced."

As per pre-covid schedules, a few Mumbai schools are already running on regular school hours. Orchids The International School, Masjid Bander, Mumbai, Principal Kavita Nagpal remarked, "It's wonderful to see schools reverting to the new normal, with students attending full-day school as part of their pre-covid period. Parents and children alike are looking forward to going to school and interacting with teachers in a tactile manner."

Schools also plan to concentrate on managing school hours, as three hours of instruction is insufficient for kids to understand and comprehend what they are learning. Dr. Yasmeen Shaikh, Principal of K.L. Mehra School in Mumbai, said, "We have already begun taking steps, and simply running a 3-hour school while still being online is a difficulty."
