Out of the 5 drowned during Ganesh Visarjan, 2 rescued: BMC

As many Ganesh idols both public and domestic were taken to seashores lakes and rivers with a sense of emotions to bid farewell. With the restrictions, people managed to enjoy the festive but festive mood was sullied to some extent by many accidents occurring. With such a case in the city, five boys drowned in the sea at Versova Jetty, when they were immersing in the Ganesh idol. The two were rescued and the three are still missing, stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a statement. 

 

The locals found the bodies of the two boys and sent them to Cooper Hospital, with this the search for the remaining three is still going on by the Mumbai Fire Brigade, stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). “Whatever happened is very saddening. The five boys who drowned, amid restrictions being imposed went on to immerse the idols in Versova.

 

The two boys have been rescued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and were sent to the Cooper Hospital and the rescue operation for finding the rest of the three is still taking place by the Mumbai Fire Brigade team,” tweeted Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday.  tweeted on Sunday.

 

"There were restrictions imposed but mischievously they entered for the immersion of Ganesh idols and drowned. They were immersing the idols where it was not designated to,” stated Manoj Waman Pohanekar, a police officer at Versova police station.
