BMC: Out of 16,000 beds, 14,000 are available, we are in a comfortable position now
As the Covid 19 cases rise in the city for more than two weeks now, the available bed stands at 89 percent which shows that the situation is under control. Out of the total 16,000 beds in the city, 14,000 beds are vacant. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in a statement made it clear that the situation in the city of Mumbai was under control and in a very comfortable position compared to what was being speculated of the third wave, though still it should not be stated that the city is in safe zone now.

As per the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) out of the 16,207 beds in centres for Covid 19 in the city, 14,468 beds are available. In the case of oxygen beds, out of 8,287 beds, 779 beds are available. Out of 1,285 ventilators, 916 are vacant.

The period till October is very crucial by when we’ll understand the spread of the pattern after the Ganesh Festival,” stated Suresh Kakani in the past week.

The city on Friday recorded a total of 446 new cases and six deaths which has taken the tally to 7,40,305 and the death toll to 16,074. The recovery rate recorded is at 96 percent with 716,491 recoveries with a mortality rate of 2.17 percent and 5,278 active cases.
