Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India's largest and richest civic body, has 33 per cent vacancies till September 2020. In response to a RTI query on Saturday. Of the 110,509 posts allotted in the direct and promotion categories, 38,128 are unfinished, affecting jobs across departments and causing problems for 1.75 crore people in the city, said RTI activist Anil Galgali.
The highest number of sanctioned posts are in Direct Recruitment Category C and Category D, for a total of 33,043.Of these, 10,553 were vacant in Category C and 15,789 in Category D (total C + D - 26,342), and 5,020 vacancies in Promotion Category D were disclosed under the Right to Information Act. of the 87,146 posts sanctioned in the direct service, technical and non-technical sectors, 28,608 have not been filled similarly, out of 23,363 posts sanctioned in promotion, technical and non-technical categories, 9,520 are yet to be filled.
