OBC Leader Chhagan Bhujbal calls Opposition Leader Devendra Fadnavis for Reservation Issue Discussion
The Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis were called by the leader of the Other Backward Communities (OBC) and the Cabinet Minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government Chhagan Bhujbal to talk over the OBC reservation concern. The meeting took place at Fadnavis’s official residence at Malabar Hill.

The former chief minister and opposition leader after the meeting with the OBC leader informed the media about the discussion they both had, he stated that Bhujbal was asking what can be done to gather the empirical data for the OBC community. As Supreme Court recently struck down the electoral reservation for the community in Maharashtra the reason being the government not backing it with empirical data.

“I gave him a suggestion, as to how we did this in the past, how the empirical data was gathered by us for the Maratha community which too was upheld by the courts. There is no politics involved in this we will be ready to help the government”, stated opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis.

As many elections are approaching especially the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections which is the richest municipal body in the country so it becomes very important to resolve the issue of electoral reservation for the Other Backward Communities (OBC) as soon as possible, added opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis. As the risk of Covid third wave the State Election Commission cancelled the by-poll elections it announced earlier for every local body in the state.
