Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said there was no need to panic as the covid-19 cases were on the rise in Mumbai and the situation was completely under control. Chahal said the civil body was preparing itself, expecting the number of corona virus cases to rise to 10,000 per day.
He added, BMC has decided to conduct more than 60,000 inspections per day in the coming weeks.BMC has completed 100000 vaccinations and aims to increase this to one lakh per day in the coming days. However, he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat Covid's government. 40,400 covid tests were conducted on March 23, of which 5,458 were positive and the positive rate was 13.5%.
