Mumbai is now rapidly healing from the covid-19 pandemic. The positivity rate and the death rate is declining every day. But amid the fast-improving situation, speculations are made that the authorities are hiding the real covid-19 toll. Mayor Kishori Pednekar briefed the media on the Malad building collapse incident on Thursday, and she also talked about the covid-19 condition in the financial capital.

Pednekar rejected the speculations that the city is hiding any kind of updates and the real toll of covid-19. The mayor said, the bodies are not being dumped into any river in Mumbai, she took a dig at the BJP ruling state- Uttar Pradesh, where over 100 bodies were found in the Ganga River during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic.

Adding to this, she said, “All covid-19 deaths are recorded properly at three places in Mumbai, so it can’t be hidden in any way. Mumbai is not hiding any kind of data. There are no rivers in Mumbai, where the dumped bodies are found.” As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the recovery rate of covid-19 in Mumbai is 95 percent.
