Mumbai Congress: No Actors as the Mayor for BMC Elections 2022
In a recent statement that came from Congress workers stating that they will choose famous personalities like Ritesh Deshmukh, Sonu Sood or Milind Soman as mayoral candidates ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022. Soon after these statements started pouring in amongst the people, actor Sonu Sood took on Twitter and expressed his denial to join politics.
 
After this in a recent address, Mumbai Congress Bhai Jagtap stated that these claims are not true, there will be no actors who will be roped in by the Mumbai Congress as Mayoral candidates for the approaching Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections 2022. This statement by the Congress Chief came on Friday. 
 
“This suggestion of choosing actors as the mayoral candidate was given in a meeting of the strategy committee, by a member but we do not agree with the suggestion. The approaching Mumbai Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2022 where we will be fighting on all the 227 seats, and if we win, the one who has been chosen as the mayor will be becoming our party member,” stated Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) president Bhai Jagtap. 
 
Further stating Bhai Jagtap said, “Soon the pandemic had hit the state, all the Congress leaders were on the ground to arrange trains for the migrant's labourers who were stuck here with lockdown being imposed and their source of income pausing, food packets were arranged by us for the ones who were in need. At the time of the second wave of Covid 19 in the state, we set up a community kitchen. The manifestos are being designed by us, but the people will be choosing us based on the work we have done so far.”
