On Sunday, Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut ordered a high-level investigation into the power outage in Mumbai's south and adjacent areas. "Those found culpable in this investigation will face appropriate punishment" He stated the first was today after Mumbaikars had been without electricity for 18 hours due to a grid outage on October 12, 2020.

The Mulund-Trombay line was shut down at 8.44 A.M., according to Raut, due to a technical issue. The State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) then directed Tata Thermal and Tata Hydro Generation stations to boost production capacity. Meanwhile, a fire at the BARC campus tripped the 220 kV Kalwa- Trombay report.

The Trombay-Salset line was overcrowded and shut down as a result. "As a result of the power outage in South Mumbai (Colaba, Mahalakshmi and Dadar), the power plant was shut down due to increased load on the Trombay Power Station (managed by Tata Power)," he added.

At 11:10 A.M., Ratu reported, the whole power supply was restored. as soon as I learned of this occurrence." "I ordered the officers to go to the location right away and supervise the power restoration process," he said. The power supply to most parts of Mumbai has been disrupted due to the tripping of MahaTransco's 220 KV transmission line on Mulund-Trombay, as reported by BEST's Head, BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal said. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said. Work on the repair is presently underway."
