Navi Mumbai to resume shuttle MEMU trains

In one of its prominent decisions, the Railway authorities gave a nod for resuming the shuttle MEMU trains on the Vasai-Diva-Panvel route from September 24. This special service was suspended due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. Responding to it people stated that this will be a great relief for people living in Mumbai Metropolitan Region, as they were struggling with rail and road travel.
In the statement released by the Central Railway (CR) officials, a total of 16 MEMU special services will be present on this corridor, out of the 8 are on Diva and Vasai section, and the reaming on the Panvel-Diva-Vasai corridor. The use of the Corridor is to operate long-distance, MEMU and good trains. The proposal for a suburban rail corridor is put forth on the Vasai-Diva-Panvel route, which if accepted will cater to 4.5 lakh passengers a day.
Earlier the Central Railway had announced that it will resume local train services for people who have been administered with both the doses of the Covid 19 vaccine and have completed 14 days after the second dose of vaccination. People were requested to register for their monthly season tickets in an orderly manner.
While announcing the MEMU services the Central Railway (CR) made it very clear that all the Covid 19 guidelines will be mandatory for EMU suburban services on the Mumbai division to issue the tickets or passes to travel in MEMU Services.
