MUMBAI: A VOTER-REGISTRATION DRIVE FOR THE 2017 BMC POLLS WILL BE HELD FROM OCTOBER 8- NOVEMBER 7.

The citizens who will complete 18 years of age on January 1, 2016, can enrol as voters. The campaign will cater to those who want to change their residential address on their voter-identity cards or delete names of the deceased from the voter list.

In the first phase around 36 centres will be operational for registration of voters. However, the BMC plans to set up more than 1,000 centres in the next phases. Around 2,150 civic staffers will be involved in the excercise. Polling centres, ward offices and municipal schools will cater to eligible voters.

“For citizens’ convenience, the centres will be kept open during two Sundays this month. This is especially being done so that office-goers can benefit,” said additional civic commissioner SVR Srinivas.

“This is a good opportunity and citizens must take advantage of the drive. It is the responsibility of voters to register themselves in the electoral rolls,” he added.
