The city of Mumbai will be free of containment zones as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s data suggests. As stated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s data, out of the 24 wards in the city, only five have slums that are in containment zone. At present, 13 slums are in containment zones, which includes four in K East ward consisting of Andheri, Jogeshwari, and Vile Parle three in M East ward (Govandi) and S-ward (Bhandup and Powai) two each in R-South ward (Kandivali) and H Westward (Bandra and Khar).
From the time the pandemic hit the city due to the novel Coronavirus outburst in March last year, the city had sealed a total of 2,782 slums to curb the spread in these areas which are packed closely. “The situation is under control and there are seen no issues related to the slums in the city, as the city is conducting as many drives, they can to ensure more and more people are vaccinated,” stated a civic official.
The reports by the
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on sealed residential buildings across the city show that 12 wards still are not completely free of Covid-19. Altogether 68 buildings in these wards are the ones under restriction. The excessive number of sealed buildings are in K Westward (Andheri, Vile Parle, and Jogeshwari) with 28, followed by D Ward (Malabar Hill, Peddar Road, and Girgaon) with 11. The rest of the 10 wards have sealed buildings in single digits.
However, the cases of the novel Coronavirus or Covid-19 are in control, but the civic body is constantly requesting the citizens of the city to not let themselves loosen up. The officials have appealed to the citizens to follow Covid-19- suitable behaviour.
