Mumbai: The residents of the government colony in Bandra reiterated that they continue to prioritise obtaining homes of their own.
One of the locals claimed that former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had given in-principle approval, and it remains to be seen how the new government will proceed with our proposal. Not for free, but at building costs, are the homes we want.
The tenant questioned why additional government employees shouldn't receive housing since the government has been giving homes to politicians, police officers, and bureaucrats. Zeeshan Siddique, the MLA for Bandra East, informed FPJ that although the MVA administration had given preliminary consent, no official notification had been sent forth.
"I will speak with the next CM and Deputy CM and insist on getting these staff members ownership homes. It is regrettable that government workers must move to another rental home after retiring and remain in the staff quarters for the duration of their employment. According to him, only six acres out of the 95 acres that make up the Bandra government colony land are being used to erect the new structures.
"The government will undoubtedly benefit from the ownership of flats. According to him, it should be developed along the lines of the BDD Chawl Redevelopment, where police officers are receiving homes. He also stated that BKC-style construction had already been planned for the last remaining parcel of undeveloped land. In reality, in addition to building apartments for the personnel, the land can also be used to build other amenities like hospitals, schools, etc.
