The Maharashtra government has named Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal as the BMC administrator to oversee the civic body's administrative and financial operations after the elected members' terms expired on March 7. Due to a delay in conducting elections, a Mumbai administrator has been appointed for the first time in four decades. After the elected members' tenure ended on March 7, the Maharashtra government named Iqbal Singh Chahal as the BMC's Administrator.
Due to the delay in holding elections, an administrator will be in charge of the civic body's administrative and financial operations for the first time in four decades. Until elections are held, the administrator will have complete authority over proposals, according to a top civic official. Citizens can use Chatbot, Twitter, and the
BMC war rooms to register their objections.
BMC officers will respond to complaints. Citizens used to take their problems and complaints to local officials, who were freely accessible. The majority of residents are unaware of the BMC's complaint sites. According to the BMC, assistant municipal commissioner level personnel will assess complaints twice a day and submit them to the appropriate agencies for resolution. If there are issues that affect the public, corporators might submit messages to officers.
Previously, suggestions were presented to the standing committee, the improvement committee, and the works committee, but today the administrator has sole authority to approve recommendations. In addition, a committee of officials may be formed to make decisions on proposals.
