Mumbai Nagrik Manch to contest in BMC Election 2017 on all 227 seats

Mumbai Nagrik Manch, a social organisation, has announced a political outfit featuring members of the public and declared that it will field 227 candidates in the upcoming BMC elections slated to be held in February 2017.Currently the BMC is ruled by the Shivsena-BJP alliance with Indian National Congress as the main opposition party in the civic body.
 
Political parties have already geared up and started soft campaigns in the city for the 2017 BMC Elections with national and senior state leaders addressing the party workers in the city.
 
Mumbai Nagrik Manch will have social workers and professionals having experience of working at the grass-root level. The Manch is also planning to support promising independent candidates where they don’t have official candidates.
 
 
Shakeel Ahmed , a member of the manch said “With the platform of the Nagrik Manch, we will contest the election and become a part of the system. We want to provide amenities for all sections and strata of the society, including transgenders, women and senior citizens,” said Ahmed, announcing the manifesto of the Manch.”
 
The Members also said that they will contest the elections from donations given by people.
