Mumbai civic body plans to start 63 open gyms in western suburbs

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is all set to start open gymnasiums in the western suburbs of Mumbai. At least 63 playgrounds and gardens between Bandra and Dahisar will soon have equipment that can be used for exercise.
 
Aaditya Thackeray, chief of the Shiv Sena’s youth wing Yuva Sena,wants to promote sports and give more playgrounds to youngsters in the city so that they get the opportunity to practice and excel in different sports. The garden department of the BMC has approved all the 63 locations suggested by corporators from the western suburbs.
 
The municipal corporation will spend more than Rs 5 crore for this project and install the equipment necessary for exercise. Recently, the BMC approved a football ground on Linking Road in Malad West, another pet project of Aaditya, at a cost of Rs3 crore.
