A new tender has been invited to develop and operation of the Common Mobility App by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for its Integrated Ticketing System (ITS) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to bring an application for the commuters so that they can have contactless and seamless journeys with just a click. This application will be useful for commuters to book travel tickets.
This project is of great importance for the authority as the authority has taken the different Metro projects in the city of Mumbai, stated an official. He further stated that by the e-tendering portal of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) a Request for Proposal (RFP) from eligible bidders was invited and that the last date of submission is August 5.
The work has already been commenced for Metro-2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar) and Metro-7 (Dahisar E-Andheri E) and the commercial operation on the lines is expected to commence from next year that’s when the mobile ticketing application will be introduced. “The mobile application will be planned in such a manner that it will operate on all the modes of travel in the MMR with this it will be very helpful for the commuters to book tickets to travel on local trains, Metro lines, and monorail.
Presently, different transports have a different ticketing system,” stated an official.” Besides, an Expression of Interest (EOI) has also been floated by the MMRDA for leasing rooftop space of Mumbai Monorail stations and other structures in the city.
