Malware mail sent to Government offices in Maharashtra
A dubious email was received in government offices in the State of Maharashtra which was under the subject of the intelligence report, linked to the terrorists involved in the current terror attack taking place in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the sources the email contained malware and was sent from a similar email account to that of a Senior Inspector of the Cyber Police Station.

Soon after the case came up the Maharashtra Cyber Police gave directives to all the Police Commissioners in the state alerting them. Also, the Deputy Commissioner gave a visit to the cyber wing to check on further details on this episode. “As per the investigation done so far, the email is sent from Punjab Province of Pakistan, but are not sure if it was sent from Pakistan or is just the mind game of the Cybercriminals to use different methods to showcase that it was sent from Pakistan, the situation is being analysed,” stated the officer.

Further, Senior IPS Officer stated that the Cybercrime Police Station system had no links to whatever happened till now according to the study but further studies are going on and experts are keeping a check if it was something else or malware. A situation like this had disrupted the functioning of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in March this year.
