Maharashtra to commence trials for home vaccination against Covid-19

A statement from the Maharashtra Advocate General notifying the Bombay High Court said that the State Government would shortly commence the trials for home vaccination against Covid-19 for residents who are housebound. The trial will first begin in the Pune district. “We will take our own decision. We will try to find the possibility for home vaccination on a trial basis in Pune district,” said Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni.
 
In his statement, he declared that the State would not keep the proposal for the trial ‘home vaccination’ to the Centre and “not wait” for consent too. And to keep track of the queries or requests of people an email address would be generated. On the AG’s appeal to avoid any misunderstanding HC laid the situation for further hearing on Thursday in Chambers. It was the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by the Chief of State’s Covid-19 Task Force and Advocate Dhruti Kapadia for doorstep jabs to the elderly, especially-abled, bedridden persons which were heard.
 
In the affidavit dated June 28th of the State Public Health Department it is stated that it would propose home vaccination for the bedridden and immobile on an experimental basis, established on guidelines set out by the task force, but with obligatory pre-conditions and after looking for State and Central approval. The affidavit captivated an open court oral observation from Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni.
 
“This affidavit weakens the State Covid-19 Task Force guidelines, this is not what we expected from the State.” It was asked by the HC to AG if unfavorable crisis following immunization in fact State concern and pointed to new reports of how in Tripura over 80% eligible population has been vaccinated.
