An office-holder announced on Saturday that the extended working committee of the Maharashtra Congress will meet in Nagpur on January 10 to examine organizational issues and election preparations. Due to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, the state leadership believes that party cadre morale is at an all-time high. During the daylong discussions, it will be discussed how to capitalise on this feeling.

The meeting would be attended by senior politician Pallam Raju and AICC in-charge for Maharashtra, HK Patil, the office-bearer announced. In addition to the Nashik Graduates Constituency, where the biannual elections for the Legislative Council will be conducted on January 30, he claimed that the Congress also intends to run candidates in the Nagpur teachers and Amravati graduates areas.

He declared that Sudhir Tambe, the current MLC representing the Nashik Graduates seat, would remain in office. January 12 is the last day to submit nominations. Aurangabad teachers and Konkan teachers make up the other two constituencies. Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will participate in the elections.
