On Tuesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced the introduction of a comprehensive Maharashtra Women's Policy, stating that the state government stands solidly behind the Department of Women and Child Development in implementing a plethora of programmes. "It is our responsibility to offer facilities for women and to meet their requests," he remarked at a dinner hosted by the Department of Women and Child Development on International Women's Day. Thackeray was virtually present at the event.
Women who have achieved success in different areas were recognised on this event by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Maharashtra Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur and Maharashtra State Women's Commissioner Chairperson Rupali Chakankar.
"Women are not inferior in any way; they must be given a chance." Tara Rani, Rajmata Jijau, Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar and Jhansi's Rani Lakshmibai all excelled in their areas. They were always one step ahead of the males. Beyond mother and kid, women work alongside men in every sector," Thackeray added.
From today, the Mumbai Police Commissioner has set an 8-hour workday for female police officers, according to the CM. "Women police, Anganwadi workers, health workers, doctors and nurses did an outstanding job in incredibly tough circumstances during the Corona crisis." "During the Corona time, these ladies went to work, leaving their children at home," he noted.
