Maharashtra prepares for the third wave: To appoint 1200 doctors by September states Rajesh Tope
As the state of Maharashtra expects the third wave to hit the state soon, it gears up in preparing itself for the worst situation. A recent statement given by Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that a total of 1200 doctors will be appointed by the Maharashtra Government till September 5 with a promise from the Centre to provide 1.7 crore vaccines for the state, which will be an addition to the existing quota and will help overcome the shortage faced by the state. 
 
Further, the Health Minister of Maharashtra Rajesh Tope, stated that the state will be increasing the production of oxygen from 1200 -1300 metric tonnes to 2000 metric tonnes per day. He further stated that already 500 ambulances have been given to the primary health care centres and till September 30 more than 500 will be provided. So by the end of September, every PHC in the state of Maharashtra will have an ambulance. 
 
Analysing the statistics Rajesh Tope stated that a total of 20 lakh people were affected in the first wave of the Covid 19 pandemic in the state of Maharashtra, 40 lakhs in wave two and wave 3 With this, the Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla reviewed all the protocols that have been imposed by the Government of Maharashtra.  After which a suggestion came from Bhalla that the state should focus on night curfew in those areas where there is high positivity. The centre also suggested that the state government along with a focus on the vaccination should focus on the protocols set for Covid 19 and events with large gatherings must be avoided and ramping up the testing in areas with high rates of positivity.
