Maharashtra is all set to ease lockdown restrictions this week
As the state of Maharashtra notices a decrease in the caseload of Covid 19 that is cases are seen drifting between 6,000 and 7,000 for the past many weeks, the state government is about to relax some restrictions this week. 6,843 cases were recorded on Sunday.
A lot of pressure has been mounted on the state government to ease the restrictions considering the damages to businesses due to the restrictions. The districts noticing huge cases daily in the second wave have been witnessing a drop in the daily caseload and the positivity rate.

“With the cases stabilizing in the state the government can ease the restrictions, without neglecting the strict monitoring for various reasons like daily cases, positivity rates, bed occupancy as well as liquid-oxygen consumption,” stated Dr. Subhash Salunkhe, who is the advisor of the state on Covid-19 management  He further stated that in the ease of restrictions firstly the timings of the shops can be extended from the closing time of 4 pm and focusing on vaccination of those working in these establishments.

With this Salunkhe said local trains will be resumed in a staggered manner and preference will be given to those who are fully vaccinated. A petition was filed by the Indian Hotels and Restaurant Association (AHAR), to increase the timings for the opening of hotels and restaurants. “Now the government should permit us to run the operation till 11 pm as the cases are decreasing. We don’t have any issues in operating at 50% capacity and we will ensure that all the guidelines are followed. The rules need to be eased as we are not able to assist at all in these timings,” stated Shetty.
