Mumbai: Maharashtra govt nods to sign sale agreement with BDD Chawl tenants
A green signal to go ahead has been received by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) with the signing of new house-sale agreements of Bombay Development Directorate (BDD) Chawl tenants. The notification has been issued by the State Government, led by Maha Vikas Aghadi, (MVA) regarding this matter recently. With this further, the major hurdle of tenants not supporting the redevelopment project has been eliminated.

The tenants who shifted to the transit houses and their names have been drawing in the lottery will be signing the new house-sale agreements. The draw of the lottery took place in February for 272 tenants. The people who will be shifted to transit  accommodations from other Bombay Development Directorate (BDD) chawls which are located in Worli and Naigoan areas will be signing the new house agreement.

The foundation stone of the Bombay Development Directorate (BDD) Chawl redevelopment project at Worli was laid by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray in his recent visit. The sq ft will be increased as in the redevelopment project, tenants who were living in 160 sq ft homes will now be given 500 sq ft flats, where the toilets will be attached.
