The Shinde Fadnavis administration has provided enormous relief to the farmers affected by heavy rains from June to August 2022, despite the fact that it did not meet the requirements for heavy rains. As a unique situation, the decision to grant assistance of roughly Rs 755 crore was reached on Thursday in the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. More than 5 lakh farmers in the state will gain from this.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was conducted to take a decision on providing aid to the victims afflicted by natural calamities. The decision of the Cabinet Sub-Committee will benefit the areas affected by the heavy rains in Aurangabad (12,679 hectares), Jalna (678 hectares), Parbhani (2545.25 hectares), Hingoli (96,677 hectares), Beed (48.80 hectares), Latur (2,13,251 hectares), Osmanabad (1,12,609.95 hectares), Yavatmal (36,711.31 (74,446 hectares). These districts' combined affected area was 5,49,646.31 hectares, and the government will provide cash assistance totaling Rs 755 crore.
A Chief Minister’s Office release claimed the state government so far has disbursed nearly Rs 4500 crore for natural calamity assistance. Only Rs. 1,500 crores would have been available from the government had that been distributed in accordance with SDRF guidelines. However, the Chief Minister claimed that because the government decided to go above and beyond the SDRF standards, the impacted farmers had received significant support.
