Mumbai local trains: Maharashtra Government launches e-pass for fully vaccinated citizens
After relaxing curbs for the people who have been administered with both doses of the Covid 19 vaccine, the Maharashtra Government has now launched an e-pass on Thursday. With this e-pass, the people who travel will be able to avoid long queues at the railway stations so that their vaccination certificates are verified. But they still will have to visit the counters to buy their season tickets. This e-pass will be working a proof that the person has completed both the doses of the Covid 19 vaccination with a photograph of a person, something the Cowin platform doesn’t provide.

The e-pass will be given only to those people who have completed their second dose of the Covid 19 vaccine before 14 days. The e-pass will have a photograph of the holder. In the past, such facility of e-pass was only available for essential workers under the government’s ‘Universal Travel Pass’ system. Now the e-pass has also been available for the general public.

“This system of offline verification in the railway stations and also the e-pass system will simplify the process for all the people who are eligible and they will be able to travel easily in the local trains from August 15. It is a request from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to the people who are going to travel by the local trains that please do not crowd at the station,” stated a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official.
