According to a circular released by the Directorate of School Education on Tuesday, the mid-day food scheme would return in its original form in all Maharashtra schools starting March 15. According to the circular, "it is intended to begin serving cooked meals in schools on March 15 in accordance with the COVID protocol." Local governments will be given orders to make the necessary preparations."

The central government has already approved the serving of prepared meals in schools under the mid-day meal scheme, according to the circular. Meanwhile, in Delhi, school lunches will resume once full attendance is attained, according to reports. According to officials, dry ration kits will be delivered to students' homes instead of hot prepared midday meals until 100% attendance is attained in Delhi government schools.

"Because school attendance is now at 50%, all pupils would not benefit from the scheme if cooked mid-day meals are reinstated. Cooked mid-day meals will be served as soon as 100 percent attendance is obtained "a source confirmed. The statement comes after the Delhi Rozi Roti Adhikar Abhiyan issued a legal notice to the Delhi government and the three municipal corporations in the national capital regarding the non-resumption of hot cooked mid-day meals in schools, even though physical classes for grades 1 through 8 began on February 14, 2022.
