Maharashtra Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray in a meeting on Monday informed about the government's plan of action to push up its vaccination program. Chief Minister declared that they are into hiking its vaccination process to up to 1.50 million doses per day. At this rate, the state is estimating to accomplish 1 crore vaccination coverage per week, which should include the first and second jabs. Lately, Maharashtra became the first state in the country to cross the 3-crore jab's milestone.
“We are making preparations to administer 15 lakh vaccine doses per day,” Thackeray said.Till Monday, Maharashtra's vaccination coverage stands at 3,17,82,327 jabs, which includes both doses. With this, the state has managed to immunize about 21% of the 12 crore population with at least a single dose.
In a recent SERO Survey in Mumbai, revelation is made that 50% of the pediatric population which is 50% of children in Mumbai have Covid 19 antibodies. This SERO Survey was conducted between April and June this year in Mumbai. 2,176 blood samples were collected from labs across the city. One must take it with the footnote that the sample size is about 2,176 collected from pathology labs across the city.
An SERO Survey is expected to give an idea of the spread of the infection and these SERO Surveys have been conducted throughout the pandemic. It usually helps the Civic Body, Municipality, and Health Authorities to prepare for what is coming. Mumbai has been preparing for a third wave given that the first two waves have put a lot of stress on the health infrastructure of the city. The SERO Survey was conducted in Nair Hospital and Kasturba Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory which are run by the
BMC. This is of course something that the authorities are saying is a notable increase.
