An official stated on Sunday that forest workers have been searching for the man-eating tiger that killed a man in Maharashtra's Gondia district earlier this week. After the tiger known as CT-I killed a 45-year-old man in the Arjuni Morgaon tehsil on Wednesday, forest workers from the Gondia and Bhandara districts set traps for it, he claimed.

According to Assistant Forest Conservator Roshan Rathod, the forest crew had built up a cage and kept live bait nearby, but the tiger was able to kill the bait and escape into the jungle. The Forest Department reports that CT-I is currently roving through the districts of Gondia and Bhandara after killing 11 people so far in the Bramhapuri, Lakhandur, Wadsa, and Armori forest areas. An official warned residents of the nearby villages to exercise caution and refrain from going into the forest alone, adding that trap cameras had been set up in several locations to monitor the animal's movements.
