The Magistrate Court granted bail to Union Minister Narayan Rane some hours after he was arrested for his contentious comments on Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, informed the Bharatiya Janata Party MLC, Prasad Lad. According to sources, the bail has been granted on Rs 15,000 bond.
Earlier the Union Minister of BJP Narayan Rane was taken to Judicial custody after which he was produced before the Magistrate Court Rane in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. The arrest took place in Ratnagiri after various FIRs were filed against him.
These arrests came after he allegedly stated that the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray forgot the year of Independence while giving a speech at an event and stated “If I would have been present there,
I would have given him a tight slap.” This sparked row in the Shiv Sena leaders who strongly asked for Narayan Rane’s removal from the Union Cabinet. In many parts of the state, FIRs were filed against Union Minister Narayan Rane. Rane was detained by the police in Ratnagiri and then handed to the Mahad Police. Responding to these quashing of FIRs against him, Rane moved to the Bombay High Court. After the arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane, a verbal spat has erupted between both parties.
Narayan Rane, who was a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was sworn in as Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Narendra Modi cabinet last month. Rane was in Maharashtra for a rally named Jan Ashirwad Yatra (JAY) where he made controversial statements against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after which Mumbai police filed 42 FIRs in connection to his rally.
