Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022, the civic body is all set to install 20 new electronic kiosks where the voters will be able to verify their name, address and other information in the electoral roll. This step by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came after there were complaints regarding missing names on voting day. And the other reason for this step by the civic body is to encourage more and more voters to register.
This step was approved by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) standing committee. On November 1, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had put forth the list of voters of the last Assembly election in 2019. Soon after the list was published, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) requested all the citizens to check if their names were present in the list which will be available at the kiosks. And further, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that if the voters find any mistake in their names or addresses, they should approach the Election Commission of India (ECI) for correction.
As per the timeline set by, the rectification process will take place like deleting the names of deceased or people who have been relocated or duplicate names. Soon after the names are deleted the invitation will be sent by the Election Commission of India for suggestions and objections by December 20. People who will be turning 18 on or before January 1, 2022, can register online till November 30th. People will be able to register themselves on http://www.nvsp.in and http://www.ceo.maharashtra.nic.in for voting ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections 2022.
