With the recent delimitation and change in ward boundaries for all the, the parties had to do a massive rethink in their strategies. With the new ward boundaries and reservations, a lot of politicians have been forced to move out of their comfort zones. Thus, the parties have given the task of identifying new candidates and safe seats to some of their trusted and wily members.
For Shiv Sena, it is the Uddhav loyalist Anil Parab who will be doing the number crunching for the party.
For Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, the task has been assigned to Raj Thackeray’s trusted person, Nitin Sardesai.
The BJP has roped in Shweta Shalini, a one-time associate of master strategist Prashant Kishore, who now runs her own information technology firm in Pune. She has officially joined the BJP and is now the party spokesperson.
Former Bandra MLA Baba Siddiqui will do the number crunching operations for the Congress whereas Corporator Rais Shaikh will be doing the same for the Samajwadi Party.
Baba Siddique insisted the
Congress’ preparations were as thorough as it can get. “There is a strong coordination in place between local leaders, workers, and the party’s top brass in Mumbai. We are still analysing the data collected by our resources. We have already had three meeting. We are in a supporting role and the final decision on candidates will be taken by the party leadership. Also, if we find any discrepancies, we will take it up with the Election Commission,” Siddique, who heads the Congress’ committee to study the recent ward revision, said.
“We have completed the first round of data crunching, and soon, we will present the party top brass with a list of wards where the Samajwadi Party stands a very good chance of winning. We have professionals helping out but the bulk of the work is being done by our party workers. We go into the poll very confident,” Rais Shaikh said.
