As the city and state is already facing water shortage, Maharashtra Nagar, Ganesh Nagar and several other small chawls along the railway tracks between KinGs Circle and Mahim experience major water cuts on a daily basis.

Residents claim that the chawls earlier used to get 40 – 45 litres of water supply during the summers till 2013, but the supply has gone down to nearly 12-15 litres a day over the past three years because of the new towers that have come up in the area.A  resident claimed that this is the same problem that repeats every year.

Ward Committee chairman Nandkishor Vichare, on the other hand said, the issue has been raised with the municipal commissioner. “We are tracking the issue and even facilitating the locals with BMC tanker service.”

Residents call for water tankers everyday due to the shortage of water supply
