Isolation centers on Railway coaches? at Mumbai

There are currently 153 insulation coaches for Mumbai on the Central and Western Railways, of which 128 coaches are available on the Western Railway (WR) 25 coaches and 25 coaches on the Central Railway (CR).  Insulation coaches will be provided by the railway authorities at the request of the state government.

The coaches can accommodate up to 3,600 patients at a time.  Each coach can accommodate up to 24 patients.  Coaches also have medical oxygen.  Insulation coaches are commonly used for patients with mild symptoms.  We evaluated the state government regarding insulation coaches. 

We haven't get any request from the government so far.  GVL Satya Kumar, WRR Divisional Railway Manager, said the coaches would be ready within 24 hours as requested by the state government. The coaches were not used in Maharashtra last year, but were made available to states including Uttar Pradesh and Telangana. 

The coaches are being deployed at the request of the state government.  Indian Railways has converted more than 5,000 railway coaches into insulation units for Covid-19 patients by 2020.  Of these, more than 800 coaches were assigned to the CR and WR.  The coaches were converted at a cost of Rs 2 lakh.  Stops at designated railway stations.  There will be no movement of trains from the railway station.
