The price of most vegetables has reduced dramatically due to an abundance of green vegetables at the Mumbai Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Vashi. In the retail market, certain veggies cost between Rs 30 and Rs 40 per kilogramme. In March, residents say they are loving the winter season.
Except for a few veggies, most vegetables are in plentiful supply. APMC dealers, on the other hand, predict that supply will fall by mid-April, and prices will begin to rise. The costs of most green vegetables have plummeted by 20 to 30 percent in the last fortnight. This can be seen in the retail market.
The drumstick, which used to cost Rs 120 to Rs 140 per kilogramme, is now accessible in the retail market for Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kilogramme. Other veggies, such as cauliflowers and tomatoes, are available in retail for Rs 30 per kg. Brinjal is currently accessible in the retail market for Rs 40 per kg, down from Rs 80 per kg previously.
Every year, homemakers anticipate the winter season in order to obtain low-cost green veggies. However, this year's supply was hampered by heavy and unseasonal rainfall in vegetable-growing areas. As a result, vegetable prices were high throughout the season. Cauliflowers were available for roughly Rs 100 per kilogramme in the wholesale market and around Rs 60 per kg in the retail market. On Monday, a total of 490 trucks and tempos laden with vegetables arrived at the Vashi APMC market, indicating that there is a good supply during the season.
