Excise in Maharashtra On Wednesday, minister Shambhuraj Desai, who is also close to chief minister Eknath Shinde, asserted that the Shinde camp would receive the bow and arrow emblem. We are fully prepared for the future course of action for the upcoming elections, so if we don't receive the bow and arrow, plan B is set, he stated.
The minister acknowledged that it would take some time to introduce the new emblem to voters, but that wouldn't be an issue because they had already reached out to the shakhas and the villages. Desai has so suggested that a sizable number of Shiv Sainiks from the Thackeray camp have shown their confidence and faith in chief minister Eknath Shinde and have disassociated themselves from Thackeray.
Desai's remarks came after a five-judge Supreme Court Constitution bench announced on Wednesday that it would hear an application from the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction on September 27 in order to prevent the Election Commission from deciding their contention that the Shinde-led faction is the legitimate successor to the "original" Shiv Sena party. Desai also made it clear that the Shinde campaign is prepared for the impending
elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 14 other Municipal organisations, 25 Zilla Parishads, and other rural local governments.
Both the Shinde camp and the Thackeray camp have legal disputes going on and made claims to the bow and arrow symbol. The Thackeray faction vehemently refuted the claims made by the Shinde camp that it is the genuine Shiv Sena. The bow and arrow symbol will appear. The majority of MLAs, MPs, corporators, members of the Zilla Parishad, and the Sarpanch support us (Shinde camp). The majority of our representatives are chosen by the electorate.
So perhaps the bow and arrow icon will appear. We have faith in the judiciary," declared Desai, who served as the Minister of State for Finance, Excise, and Home (rural) in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration. Desai was elected to the state parliament from the Patan constituency in the Satara region.
